Woman Gives Away Belongings

A woman has been tricked out of her personal belongings by two women who said they would give her a percentage of the value of a Buddha image worth 1 million baht if she gave them all her belongings.

SATTAHIP – July 3,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 10.00 a.m., at Sattahip police station Mrs. Laddaporn, aged 28, who is a seamstress went to notify Pol.Capt.(Woman) Karnchanapat Pathaweesrisutha (Inquiry official of Sattahip police station) that a gang of 2 had deceived her and stole her gold necklace (weight 2 salueng), 1 gold bracelet (weight 1 salueng), 3 gold rings (weight 0.5 salueng, 10,000 THB , 1 Samsung mobile phone and 1 Samsung tablet. The incident occurred in front of Krung Thai bank, Sukhumvit branch, Tambon Sattahip Chon Buri province.


Upon questioning Mrs. Laddaporn, she said that when she walked out of the Government Savings Bank (GSB) in Sattahip where she met 2 women who were standing outside. The thin woman told her that she had an ancient small Buddha image (Phra Somdej Wat Rakhang) which belonged to her chubby friend and it was worth over 1 million THB and they would give her a percentage of the value if she gave them all of her belongings. She then gave them all her belongings before they all got on a baht bus to withdraw 10,000 THB her Krung Thai bank. Mrs. Laddaporn said that she didn’t realise what she had done until they had disappeared and only had a fake small Buddha image of Somdej Wat Rakhang in her hand.


Pol. Capt.(Woman) Karnchanapat Pathaweesrisutha revealed that after the victim notified the police they showed her some mug shots of some criminals and she identified the chubby one as Mrs. Warin Madan, aged 46, Bangkok resident. However, the police had sent a detective team to find the fraudsters so they can be arrested and prosecuted them further according to the Thai law.
