Thai “Ubon” Law Student Fails Exam 3rd Time Hangs Himself

A 4th year law student at Ubon Ratchathani university committed suicide by hanging because he he had failed his exam a third time by only four points. The student wrote the names of the teachers who flunked on his two feet, as a revenge.

UBON RATCHATHANI – May 28, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; It was reported that a group of teachers from the Faculty of Law, Ubon Ratchathani university went to pay respect to the corpse of Mr. Sivadol Munkong age 24. A 4th year student at the Faculty of Law, who had committed suicide by hanging in the evening of May 25, 2012.

The mother of Mr. Sivadol said that, the cause of her sons death might be the teachers who did not let him pass the exam. Mr. Sivadol wrote the names of the two teachers on his feet.

Professor Dr. Nongnit Theerawattanasuk, the dean of Ubon Ratchathani university, explained to Mrs. Sangob Kakkaew, the mother of Mr. Sivadol about the examination system at faculty of law.

Last summer Mr. Sivadol took three courses. The requirement 60% to pass but Mr. Sivadol could not pass because he managed to get 56 %. He did not graduate together with his friends.

One of the teachers, also his advisor said said that, he tried to find a way to help Mr. Sivadol but could not help him in time.
