PATTAYA – January 20, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12:30 a.m., several young males were arrested for marijuana possession by a Pattaya police crime patrol. Supervising the arrests was Pol. Col. Sathien Ratchaphongthai, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province, who had mobilized police forces to inspect for crime in the area.

The arrests of seven suspects were made at Soi Pho-sarn in north Pattaya, Moo 5, Tambon Na Kleu. Police officers on patrol had noticed two suspicious teens riding on a motorbike together. So the police made them stop to inspect for illegal items and the motorbike’s legal documents.

While searching the pair, police found a clear plastic bag of dried ganja in the left pocket of the driver’s pants. So the police seized the ganja and arrested the two suspects.

The motorbike driver carrying the ganja was identified as Mr. Thawatchai Noomnim or Ex, age 23, a motorbike-for-hire driver, living in Tambon Na Kleu.

His passenger was identified as “Mr. James” (alias), age 16, a grade 4 student at a well known secondary school in Pattaya, also living in Tambon Na Kleu.

During questioning, Mr. Thawatchai confessed that he and Mr. James are close friends, and together they bought ganja from another friend in Soi Klong Plub in Na Kleu. They had paid100 THB for the bag of ganja, in order to re-sell it to a group of teen friends for 500 THB.

The pair told police they regularly bought and re-sold marijuana, and often smoked it too. After investigating the two suspects, police also arrested 5 male teenagers who had been waiting to buy and smoke the ganja with the suspects.

Police informed the parents of the suspects, who were all sent to the investigation officer at Pattaya police station, to prosecute further according to the law.
