January 30, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., a report of a teen caught stealing from a 7-Eleven was received by Pol. Capt. Narate Boonthee, investigation officer, Sattahip police station. The theft was reported by Mr. Prachya Narkthong, age 29, the manager of 7-Eleven shop, Yarng-ngarm branch, Moo 3 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province.

At the scene, police found the shop owner and employees restraining the suspect, “Mr. Neung” (alias), age 16. Police seized the evidence of 2 stolen movie CDs worth a total of 328 THB. Police also seized the motorbike driven by the suspect, a blue-black Honda Wave 100, license number NGOR PHOR ROR-651 Chonburi.

The manager told police that the suspect had pretended to be shopping for goods in the shop, and walked around the CD shelf many times. Then he picked up 2 foreign movies CDs in the corner that was out of the range of the store’s CCTV.

The teen put the CDs into the waistband of his pants, and then used his shirt to cover the CDs. But someone using the ATM outside the shop had noticed his behavior through the window. So the witness quietly informed the manager of the shop, who detained the thief while he was still lingering in the store.

During questioning, Mr. Neung told police that he likes to see foreign movies very much, but he is so poor that he has no money to buy movies to watch. So he made the plan to steal some movies from the 7-Eleven. He picked the two CDs to steal because he had not seen the movies before. But unfortunately, an honest person had seen his behavior while stealing so he was arrested.
