Thai-Aussie 8-Year-Old Girl Jabbed By Needle in Sattahip Beach

Hypodermic needles were found in the sand of Bang Sarey beach in Sattahip after a little girl was pricked by a syringe. The mother contacted the PDN reporter and Sattahip municipality.

Sattahip, December 28, 2011[Pattaya Daily News]; Mrs. Somjit Dorson age 37, address 45/1 Moo 5 Tambon Pong, Chonburi province with her Thai-Australian eight-year-old daughter, Asia Dorson came to file a complaint at the Sattahip municipality office.

She reported that she took her daughter to swim in Bang Sarey beach, Sattahip. Her daughter was pricked by a syringe which punctured her forefinger of her right hand. Mrs. Somjit was shocked and hurriedly took her daughter to Bangkok-Pattaya hospital In Chonburi for immediate tetanus, Hepatitis A and B vaccination.

Mrs. Somjit Dorson said, that had travelled with her family to relax and swim in the sea at Baan Bang Sarey beach. Her daughter played on the beach, dug in the the sand until she was jabbed by the syringe.Mrs. Somjit found several used syringes thrown away on the beach. She all kept the syringes and gave them to the doctor to inspect.

Mrs. Somjit said, that she was worried about the syringes in the sand and the dangers they pose to the children playing on the beach.She told the reporter to get the related organisations to inspect where these syringes came from and to prevent this from happening again and to inspect the beaches regularly especially at the popular beaches where many Thais and tourists come to swim.
