THA To Discuss And Promote Tourism Problems In Pattaya

Thai Hotels Association held a seminar to discuss and promote the tourism industry in Pattaya after seeing the number of tourist fall by 20%.

PATTAYA– October 25, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Mr.Sanpetch Suppabawonsathien-president of Thai Hotels Association- held a conference at the Grand Bella Pattaya hotel in order to report the overall results and to discuss about the tourism problems due to the amount it has decreased. Mrs.Suladda Sarulawan-director of Pattaya TAT- attended the conference.

 

Mr.Sanpetch revealed that the association and Chonburi administrative organization had continuously held activities to promote tourism such as Pattaya Grand Sale 2014, Pattaya Food Festival and Mr.Pattaya Healhty Guy.

 

However high season is coming but the tourism is still very slow it’s expected that political problems and world economy has affected the tourism industry. As a result of this tourist are down by 20 % especially the main tourists like Russian.

 

Previously the association had collaborated with Visa companies to promote tourism by making 50,000 promoting leaflets to be spread at TAT offices and airlines. This had worked well but it was not enough.

 

Plus a tourism operator revealed that there had been more reservations n during November but the number of reservations had decreased at the end of the year due to tourists going to other holiday locations.

 

Mrs.Suladda said that according to TAT data, the number of flights to Thailand in November had increased 15% especially tourists from China, Korea and countries in South Asia and Middle East. It’s expected that the situation will go better. In addition Pattaya officials were preparing to promote tourism in Pattaya in March 2015.

 

Plus the officials aimed to hold a seminar to attract new target groups such as Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar and they will also hold road shows (SATTE 2015 and ITB 2015) and trade shows in India and Germany. It’s expected that the tourism situation in 2015 will recover.
