Tennis Stars Noppawan And Bammer Join The Ptt Pattaya Open

Thailand?s World No 1 junior tennis player Noppawan Lertcheewakarn and the 2007 Pattaya Open winner Sybille Bammer of Austria will be joining the star studded line-up at the PTT Pattaya Open, which will be held at the Dusit Thani, Pattaya from 7 ? 15 February 2009.?

Noppawan Lertcheewakarn has been given a main draw wild card into the tournament as a result of her outstanding success at junior level in 2008, which has seen her rise to the coveted rank of No 1 in the world. This will be Noppawan?s 3rd appearance in the tournament and it will give Thai tennis fans the opportunity to see her in action against some of the world?s top players.

Also entering the tournament is Austrian No 1 Sybille Bammer, who won her maiden WTA title in Pattaya in 2007. The powerful left-handed finished the 2008 season ranked 26 in the world, with her best performance being a quarter-final appearance at the U.S Open, where she lost to world no 1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia.

Noppawan and Bammer join a powerful line-up of players which include World No 7 Vera Zvonereva of Russia, World No 11 Nadia Petrova also of Russia, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark ranked No 12 and Dominika Cibulkova of the Slovak Republic ranked No 19.

The PTT Pattaya Open is part of the Sony-Ericsson WTA Tour and is supported by PTT Public Co., Ltd, Pattaya City, Sports Authority of Thailand, Chonburi Provincial Administration, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Dusit Thani Pattaya, Wilson, Yonex, the Telephone Organization of Thailand, Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital and J C Ferrero Equelite.
