TAT To Urge Tourism In Pattaya

TAT held a seminar to promote tourism in Pattaya after political unrest and economic recession had reduced tourism by 20%.

PATTAYA– 22 October, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at the Siam hotel TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) held a seminar about Pattaya tourism operators in order to provide information and direction to promote new tourist attractions in Pattaya.

 

Tourism has reduced because of political unrest and world economic recession. There were representatives from Thai Hotel Association and business and tourism association of Pattaya and about 100 operators attending the seminar.

 

Mr.Thanet Petchsuwan-director of TAT- said that Pattaya was an area that there was a variety of foreigners due to the variety of attractions.

 

However the number of Russian and Chinese tourists had reduced by 20 % especially Russian tourists. The officials said that 1.5 million tourists travelled to Pattaya compared with 1.9. million in previous years . Now there were just 1.1 million tourists.

 

The TAT aimed to focus on tourists from Eastern Europe and Middle East who had continued to come to Pattaya. Plus these tourists are interested in Medical Tourism and tourists attractions that Pattaya can fully provide.

 

TAT expected that there will be about 600,000 tourists from the Middle East travelling to Thailand which can make around 42,000 million baht in revenue.
