Synthetic Marijuana Dealer Arrested

Police have arrested a Russian man who is a member of a gang that deal a new type of synthetic marijuana. He was arrested by Thai police according to an International arrest warrant from Russia. He had escaped and tried to hide in Koh Samui.

BANGKOK – March 7, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2.30 p.m; At the National Police Bureau, Pol.Maj.Gen. Aphichart Suriboonya (Commander of Foreign Affairs Division, and the Head of National Central Bureau of International Police in Thailand) made a statement about the arrest of a Mr. Yuri Cemanov, aged 32, Russian national, according to the arrest warrant from Russian official and International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in a room in Koh Samui, Surat Thani province. The arrest warrant from the Russian International Police was made because he was involved in a network of Russian drug dealers who were selling a new synthetic type of marijuana which activates quickly and sniffer dogs cannot smell it, also it cannot be found in a urine inspection. This Russian defendant had fled from Russia to hide in Thailand, but he was finally arrested by Thai police.

Pol.Maj.Gen. Aphichart said that from the information of INTERPOL’s i247 system (the network of communication and information exchange of the member countries of INTERPOL) there were a lot criminals of transnational crimes who had fled to Thailand especially Russians who would often pretended to study Thai language in order to obtain a long stay visa so they could live in Thailand longer. Most would stay in the tourism areas such as Pattaya, Samui, Phuket, etc. Therefore the officers will now check and inspect over 60,000 passports with the information on the data base in order to oppress criminals hiding in Thailand. As for Mr. Yuri Cemanov, he will be deported.
