Soldiers Raid Pattaya Radio Stations

The NBTC and soldiers have raided 3 radio stations in Pattaya who were still broadcasting after being told to stop by the NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications).

PATTAYA – June 18, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- at 14.00 pm. Mr.Jedsada Sukniyom-director of NBTC Chantaburi- was accompanied with Lt.Khundong Petchtaisong to lead a team of soldiers with a court order to inspect 3 radio stations in Pattaya because they had been notified that the radio stations were still broadcasting after they were told to suspend broadcasting by NBTC and NCPO.


They inspected Chag Siam radio station (105.00 MHz) which Mrs Chanicha Sarnthong aged 41 led the inspection team, Mungkorn Thurakit Co.Ltd. (96.00 MHz) and Thip Manee Cable TV Co.Ltd. which Mr.Sergey Petrushev 44 year old Russian led the officer to inspect. The police officers then confiscated their radio equipment.

Mr.Jedsada revealed that the NBTC and NCPO had ordered every radio station to not broadcast but they had continued to do so, therefore they needed to inspect each radio station where they confiscated their equipment. He added that the radio stations must have permission from the NBTC before they can broadcast. However the NBTC will talk to the radio station owners to agree to the terms before they can start broadcasting again.
