PATTAYA – April 25, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 3 a.m., a report of a foreigner stealing cash from the staff of a 7-Eleven store was received by Pol. Lt. Nakkarach Nonseelard, investigation officer, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province.

The incident occurred at the 7-Eleven shop on Walking Street. Waiting for the police was a victimized employee, identified as Mr. Maroot Laphit, age 20, address 89 Moo 7 Tambon Wangchin, Amphur Wangchin, Phrae province.

He let the police inspect the store’s CCTV footage that recorded the picture and appearance of the foreign thief. Mr. Maroot said that while he was working in the shop, he saw the foreign man who looked like a Middle East man walking out from the back of the shop.

However, the shop didn’t allow other people to go inside from the back door, which made him suspicious of the foreign man. Mr. Maroot confronted him, and asked how he got inside the shop from the back, and what was he doing inside a restricted area?

The foreign man claimed that he went to the restroom and acted unsatisfied, then hurried to walk out of the shop immediately. Mr. Maroot quickly walked upstairs to the second floor to check for his wallet that he put on the table on the second floor, and found that his cash totaling 6,000 THB was stolen.

So he checked the CCTV footage and saw that this foreign man had walked upstairs to the second floor. He assumed that this foreign man took the chance when the staff was cleaning the coffee maker machine and had opened the door, so this foreign man sneaked upstairs and made trouble.

After inspecting and investigating, officers found that the thief looked like a Middle East man, tall and rather fat and rather old. He wore a long sleeve-shirt with a striped pattern, and black pants with canvas shoes.

Initially, the police made notes for evidence and brought the picture from CCTV to send to the detective police team to follow up to arrest this foreign thief to prosecute further according to the law.
