SATTAHIP – February 3, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 3 p.m., a police undercover sting drug purchase resulted in the arrest of a female dealer in a Sattahip hotel room. The operation was led by Sattahip sheriff Mr. Phawat Lertmookda, together with Mr. Chawat Thepthup, the Assistant of Stability Division; and the Special Operations team from the Center of Fighting Against Drugs.

The drug bust occurred in room 4 of the Plutaluang hotel, Moo 1 Tambon Plutaluang, Amphur Sattahip. The suspect was identified as Ms. Wanwisa Boonyathee or Buay Baancharng, age 28. Police seized the evidence that included the 2,000 THB banknotes used in the sting purchase, and a 0.03 gram bag of ya-ice mixed with seasoning powder.

Mr. Phawat Lertmookda, Sattahip sheriff, revealed that an investigation of the dealer’s customers had led to them uncovering the network of addicts and planning the entrapment drug purchase from their dealer. Police had arranged to purchase 1 gram of ya-ice from the dealer for 2,000 THB. An appointment was made for the drug to be delivered to the hotel room, where police arrested the suspect.

Police inspecting the ya-ice later found it was mixed with seasoning powder, but was not obvious to the naked eye. During questioning, Ms. Wanwisa said she had been selling drugs for a long time, and had been arrested several times for drug dealing.

But later her family became poorer, and she had no money to buy drugs to sell. So she thought to betray customers by using seasoning powder to add to the ya-ice, which is flaky and similar to ya-ice. She admitted to cheating many customers by selling them diluted ya-ice.
