Seafood Sells Out

Tourists from various areas have poured into Samaesarn market to buy fresh seafood although prices have increased due to fishing restrictions.

SATTAHIP – August 2,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; a fresh seafood market in Ban Chong Samaesarn community, Tambon Samaesarn, Amphur Sattahip, Chon Buri province, there were a lot of tourists who had gone to Samaesarn market to buy fresh seafood although they had to pay a very high price.


It was busy due to the 4 weekend and lots of people had travelled to relax at many of the well-known beaches of Amphur Sattahip such as Nang Ram beach, Toei Ngam, Royal Thai Fleet beach, Nam Nao beach, Sai Kaew beach, Bang Sarey beach.

Because Samaesarn fishermen have been facing various restrictions set by the government and aren’t able to fish as much as before the price of their catch has risen. Horse crabs (blue crabs) are 400-500 THB per kilogram, Flathead lobsters are 350-500 THB per kilogram, sea basses are 150-180 THB per kilogram, Banana shrimps are 300-400 THB per kilogram, Blood cockles are 120-400 THB per kilogram and sea mussels are 60-80 THB per kilogram. Also other kinds of fresh seafood have been increased in price.
