On 22 Jan 2008, a Karaoke singer from Sattahip had an argument with her toy-boy partner, which led to her stabbing him. Police later managed to apprehend her waiting for an up-country bus at a nearby bus stop before she made good her escape.

That same day, at 03.00 am. Police Lieutenant Colonel Reungsak Sooksawat, Inspector of Sattahip Police, received a report that a young, private soldier, Pakorn Mopin, (19) had been stabbed by his live-in girlfriend, Miss Songkran Nowboot, (26), a Karaoke singer. He received serious injuries and was sent to the I.C.U. at a local hospital.

Police rushed round to the house where the incident had taken place, 82/101 Moo. 5. Sattahip, Chonburi, but found the assailant, Miss Songkran Nowboot, missing. Conveniently, she was discovered by police waiting at a bus stop nearby, where she was arrested and taken to the local police station.

Miss Songkran Nowboot informed the police that she and her boyfriend, the victim, had been living together as man and wife in a marriage of convenience for about a year. They had been having serious arguments recently and particularly on the night the incident occurred. She said her boyfriend had wanted to leave her, so she became really upset and grabbed a 10-inch-long knife and stabbed him in the ribs. He fell to the floor badly injured, and as she was really frightened, she ran out of the house to the nearby bus stop, intending to catch a bus to go home up country. However, she was prevented from escaping when the police caught her at the bus stop.

The victim was given emergency surgery and luckily managed to survive. The police will charge Miss Songkran with criminal injury and attempting to kill her boyfriend.
