Russian’s Handbag Snatched By 2 Teenagers

A Russian tourist had her hand bag snatched by2 male high school students. Luckily for the tourist one of the snatchers was quickly captured by some local people but the other snatcher got away.

PATTAYA – March 6, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 10.00 a.m. Pol.Col. Tharmmanoon Munkhong (Superintendent of Banglamung police station, Chonburi province) was notified from some bystanders that they had captured 1 bag snatcher in Soi 14/1 Pattaya – Na Kluea Moo 5 Tambon Na Kluea, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province, so he commanded the patrol officers to rush to inspect at scene.

At the incident the officers found some local people and the motorbike taxi drivers who had detained 1 of the bag snatchers and he was sitting on the ground with scratches and wounds on his body. He was identified as Mr. Aey (alias), aged 18, who was a high school student in Matthayomsuksa 5 of a school in Amphur Banglamung. Near the trouble maker was 1 black ladies handbag which contained 2,000 Euros, 1 mobile phone and some important documents so the officers kept them for evidence. Mr. Alexander Chekolskii, aged 53 and Mrs. Shisada Chekolskii, aged 50, the couple who were the victims, pointed out to confirm the identity of the snatcher before he was arrested.

Upon questioning the 2 victims, the police perceived that before incident occurred the 2 Russian victims were walking out of their hotel in the incident Soi in order to get on a baht bus at the beginning of the Soi to go to Jomtien beach. Mr. Aey who rode as a pillion of a black-gold Honda Wave 125 motorbike and Mr. Big (alias), aged 15, the junior high school in Matthayomsuksa 3 of the same school, was the driver. They rode around and tailed the victims and then snatched Mrs. Shisada had bag and then tried to flee the scene but unlucky for them the incident was witnessed by some motor bike taxis who ran over and kicked Mr. Aey until he fell slightly injuring him, but Mr. Big took the opportunity during the commotion to flee the scene quickly.

Upon investigating Mr. Aey, he confessed that after he finished his exam and it was the end of the semester he persuaded Mr. Big to go out and snatch tourists’ property in order to get money for travelling during the school vacation. He also told police that he had done this 3 times before in the Pattaya area. The police charged him with the allegation of snatching other people’s property and the officers will magnify their investigation to arrest Mr. Big so they both can be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
