Russian Man Arrested After Being Hunted By Interpol

A Russian man was arrested in Pattaya after he had been hunted by Interpol because he was wanted for extortion and murder in Siberia Russia.

PATTAYA – March 11,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 15.30 pm Pol.Col.Prapansak Prasansuk-superintendent of the immigration police station-, Pol.Lt.Col.Rattapong Teasud-deputy inspector- and police officers had together made the statement about the arrest of Mr.Sergey Kovalenko aged 25 from Russia who is a suspect on a charge of threatening and extorting and murder in Yuga Siberia in Russia. Plus, he had been hunted by Interpol no. 2014/36611-1 on the 18th June 2014.

 

Pol.Col.Prapansak revealed that police officers were notified by Russia officials that Mr.Sergey had hidden in Pattaya and he had applied for a student visa February last year. Pol.Col.Prapansak then ordered Pol.Lt.Col.Rattapong to investigate . The officers found out that his visa would expire today so they called him to renew his visa and when he turned up he was arrested.

 

Upon inspecting Mr.sergey and his gang they were from n Siberia in Russia and they had extorted and robbed people and were also involved in many murders. He then travelled to Thailand in order to hide. Initially, the police officers prosecuted him on charge of overstay before sending him to the Russian officials.

 

However, the police officers would like to ask Thai and foreigners who had information about any transnational criminals to notify the Immigration police on 1178 which is open 24 hours.
