Mrs. Pragob, the former staff member of a famous hotel, recounted how she had been driving a motorbike, and saw Boonrangsi, a labourer, standing on the Naklua Long Bridge behind the Banglamung Police Station, thumbing a lift. She stopped and Boonrangsi asked her to take him home to a worker’s camp in Soi Photisan, Naklua. Mrs. Pragob, feeling trusting, did so, even allowing him to drive motorbike, whilst she rode pillion.

When they arrived at Lotus North Pattaya Department Store, Boonrangsi had suddenly turned into bushland behind and dragged the victim from the motorbike, intent on forcing his attentions on her. The offender confessed that he had committed the offence while he was intoxicated from drinking whisky, which aroused his sexual inclinations. He said he had met the victim by accident, and then raped her, stealing her mobile phone in the process to sell. He will be prosecuted accordingly.
