Pattaya police official gather more than 200 in the closing up of Soi Pattaya Land 1, area of the famous Gay Bars, Pattaya Beach, to investigate the Go Go Gay Dancers urine for drugs. An internet game gambling store was also discovered in the area.

Pattaya, 27 January 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 21.30 Police General Nantawun Suwanlaorng, official of the police Station Pattaya, gathered troops of more than 200 men, in cooperation along with other associations, to combat crime and drug abuse. In this case the police raided Pattaya Soi 13/3 ( Soi Pattayaland 1 ) Beach Rd Pattaya, shortcut to Pattaya Second Road , Moo 9 Ngonbrue Banglamung Chonburi. The street is famous for its occupation of Beer Bars, Pubs and Gay Go Go Bars, the soi has over 100 bars.

The police has closed the road at both ends in order to check for any crime in the soi and also to check the urine of the workers. They also asked for detailed information in each pub or bar including a permit license for the Go Go dancing service.

Out of 200 dancers and workers, 20 were arrested after their urine turned purple after the urine test, indicating positive for the presence of drugs. The ‘Gentlemen’s Club’ ( at 325/27), an internet games cafe, had to be closed down as it turned out to be an internet gambling club. The club had 15 computers, where 4 Thai gamers were momentarily gambling on games online. Ms. Gamonpan Thephum, 22, supervisor of the Gentlemen Club said that the club used to be an Go Go Gay Bar, but business wasn’t good so the owners decided to turn it into an online games internet cafe, for gambling online. The shop had been opened for 2 weeks only, and a lot of customers have come to gamble at their internet cafe, doing good business. Their main customers were the workers and Gay Go Go dancers from the other bars, and motorbike taxi drivers, who would come to gamble here. Ms. Gamonphan was also arrested, and 2,000 Baht of her cash was confiscated.

In this procedure of checking for crime and drugs, many people were arrested for drug abuse, and gambling. Police officials will investigate further in each case for more detailed information to proceed further according to the law.
