Prachachuen Police Arrested For Robbing And Beating Indians

Wangthonglang police station arrested a police officer from Prachachuen police station while they were hitting an Indian man with their clubs. Allegedly the police officers had done it many many times. Some of victims had became handicapped and had to go back to India to their home town.

BANGKOK – June 19, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj. Wattana Changsap 44-years-old, squad leader of the prevention and suppression division of Prachachuen and Mr.Atit Asunee Na Ayuthaya 31-years-old was arrested by 191 police and police officers from Wangthonglang police station in soi Ramkamhang 43/1 , Wangthonglang district. The arrest took place while they were beating and robbing Mr.Sirikarn Tivari, an Indian-Thai man.

Mr.Sirikarn said that at 23:00 hrs June 18, while he was riding his police motorbike back home, he saw a parked police motorcycle and Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj. Wattana wearing half a police uniform.

Mr. Sirikarn was stopped by Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj. Wattana, who tried to remove the ignition key of the bike Mr. Sirikarn was riding. Mr. Sirikarn refused and the “thief-police” started hitting the Indian on his helmet with his club until the helmet.

Then a 191 police patrol came appeared and Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj. Wattana tried to escape, but he crashed with a meat ball vendor’s trolley and was caught moments later.

Upon a body searching Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj. Wattana the patrol found 8,100 THB in cash, a .357 gun, and a pack of Indian letters.

After he the arrest many Indians came to the police station to witness that Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj.Wattana had robbed and beaten and them in Ladpraw , Wangthonglang and Thonglor districts. Those who protested would be hit brutally until arms or legs were broken. One of the victims was hit on his head and sustained brain injuries and had to go back to India.

Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj.Wattana is charged with theft and illegal possession of a fire arms. His case is under investigation in coordination with his commander at Prachachuen police.
