Pattaya Tourism Down

Pattaya officials have collaborated with the TAT Pattaya branch in order to stimulate the tourism industry after seeing falling numbers of tourists visiting Pattaya.

PATTAYA – June 19,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; Ms.Suladda Sarutilawan-director of the TAT Pattaya branch – revealed that the in the east of Thailand that the number of tourists is 5th of Thailand’s tourism and 79 % are foreigners and 21% are Thais.


The revenue from the tourism industry in the East of Thailand is around 160k million baht which had risen 11 % per year. Pattaya is third behind Bangkok and the South of Thailand.


In 2014, there were 2.6 million Thai tourists and 6.5 million foreigners which has reduced by 8.1 % compared with the year before, while the revenue was about 97,000 million baht which is a lot lower than expected.


The first quarter in 2015, there were 4.1 million tourists coming to Pataya which generated 48,000 million baht and it’s expected that the situation will get better if there aren’t any more political problems.


Ms.Suladda said that the TAT had collaborated with Pattaya officials, Chonburi official and operators to stimulate and promote the tourism industry in Pattaya in order to attract more foreigners.


In addition some operators had given discounts to tourists all year round in order to stimulate tourism. The Pattaya Grand Sale is another activity which tries to promote tourism.
