Pattaya Police Inspect and Patrol ATM’s which Targeted by Thieves

Pattaya police have doubled patrolling officers after thieves drilled and stole 2 million THB from an ATM machine. They have also inspected ATM that could be at risk and contacted the relevant banks.

PATTAYA- May 1, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];  at 00.30 Pol.Col.Suppachai Puikaewkham-Superintendent of Pattaya police station-, Pol.Lt.Col.Theeradech Matthanaphan-Deputy Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station-, and Pol.Lt.Col.Panjanon Vijittho-Administration and Crime Control Inspector of Pattaya Police Station-had ordered more police agents to patrol around ATM’s near mini marts, gas stations, bank and gold shops.

According to the incident that the 4 men used a butane torch to cut open a l Siam Commercial Bank’s ATM machine which was located in front of S.Con. Concrete company’s office.

In addition, the police are also to patrol ATM’s that are located in unsafe or high risk areas. UOB’s ATM machine that is located in front of Under Water World is in a risk area because it had been bombed once but thieves didn’t get away with any money. Plus there is insufficient lighting in this area so the police informed the bank to move it. They also asked for collaboration from gas station operators about installing CCTV.

Pol.ColSuppachai Phuikaewkham- Superintendent of Pattaya police station-revealed that they are concerned about this because the thieves were professional. They robbed an ATM in Bueng Khum on April 28th before they robbed in Nong Prue. They police have reinforced their patrolling teams during the early hours when these type of crimes are committed.
