Pattaya Police Arrests 2 Bulgarian ATM Card Skimmers

Chonburi police and the Provincial Transnational Crime Suppression Unit detained two Bulgarian nationals suspected running a ATM skimming operation at ATM machines in front of Family Mart convenience store in Soi Bongkot.

Pattaya, January 19, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Lt. Gen., Dr. Panya Mamen, Commissioner section 2, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jamnong Rattanakul, Commissioner Chonburi province and Krungthai Bank Pattaya branch manager reported about the arrest of Mr. Ventseslav Paliyski, age 40 and Mr. Borislav Ralev Ivanovage 42, both Bulgarian citizens.

 

At the suspects rented room the police found

– 2 Grey ATM machine plastic covers

– 1 transparent plastic skimming device

– 9 pin-hole cameras to record pin-numbers

– 5 mobile phones

– 1 screw driver

– 1 TV converter

On January 18 at 17:00 hrs the Bulgarians were attaching a false cover to the ATM machine in front of Family Mart in Soi Bongkot. but they were spotted by a police patrol.

But when they saw the police they took the false cover and rode off on their motorbike. During their escape they threw away all of the equipment on the side of the road. Moments later they were caught by the police and arrested.

Lat the commissioner section 2 led a press conference which included a trip to the to the ATM machine with the suspects where their crime was re-enacted.

Both of them will be further investigated and prosecute according to the Thai law.
