Pattaya Police Arrest 73 Drug Addicts and Prostitutes on Beach Road

Pattaya police have arrested drug addicts, women and lady boys who sold sexual services on Pattaya beach. They also arrested a drug dealer who was caught with methamphetamine.

PATTAYA – May 31, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2.00 a.m.; Pol.Capt. Nopphadon Raksawong (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) together with forces of the police volunteers to suppress the women and lady boys who sold sexual services to tourists at night on Pattaya beach. They also randomly searched suspicious looking teenagers who might be possessing illegal items and drugs. The sweep of the beach area was ordered by the command of the superior police to suppress and arrest people who committed such offences in order to improve and create a better image of tourism including the security of tourists that walk down the beach at night. The police have inspected the beach everyday but they are still finding and arrested many offenders every night who are not afraid of law due to the law having a low penalty.

The officers arrested 44 women and lady boys that were selling sexual services on the side of south Pattaya beach and 28 teenagers who had consumed drugs and 1 defendant who was caught in possessed drugs who was identified as Mr Wara Thamrongwet, aged 33, residing at house no. 162, Soi Rama 2 Soi 50, Sa Mae Dam Sub-district, Bang Khunthien District, Bangkok, with exhibits of 4 small bags of methamphetamine, total weight 3.0 g.
 
Initially, the police sent all defendants to the inquiry official of Pattaya city police station to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
