Pattaya Floating Market Criticized On The Internet

The owner of the Pattaya floating market notified police after his business had been criticized on the internet.

PATTAYA – March 12,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 16.00 pm Mr.Manad Meepong aged 52 who is the chief officer of Region 4 floating market in Pattaya was accompanied with his lawyer to meet Pol.Col.Chanapat Nawaluk-superintendent of Bang Lamung police station- in order to complain that his market had been criticized on social media sites.

 

Mr.Mand revealed that his friend told him that “Nanli Liu” had posted on a Chinese Wechat app that Chinese officials had forced Chinese tourists not to go to the floating market since the 10th March. The officials also said that on the 10th March tour buses from OA and SG companies hadn’t been to the floating market. These 2 messages had been widely spread via the internet. He had no idea why they were posted and it had destroyed tourism to the floating market. Later he decided to notify the police in order to prosecute the ones who posted the messages.

Pol.Col.Chanapat revealed that the police officers initially expected that a tour guide who lost his job was to blame; therefore, he ordered Pol.LT.Col.Samai Somjit-inspector to record the incident. Also Pattaya police have asked for collaboration from the office of technological and crime to hunt for the people who posted the message.
