At 04.30, on September 21st, 2008, Second Lieutenant police officer Arnon In-phong, Sattahip, was notified that a man was shot dead. The incident took place in front of a house No. 45/7-45/8, Soi Huey-yai, Na-jomtien, Sattahip, Chonburi. Pol.Lt.Col. Sutham Chaosrithong and investigation team with Rojanathamasatien rescue rushed to the scene.

In front of a bungalow house, official found a bronze Toyota Vios, licensed No. 6484, Chonburi, had been left the engine running, parking outside the house, and a deceased body of Mr. Sanit Nilkum (45), Pattaya Civil Engineer level 7, lying in a pool of blood on the ground in front of iron sliding gate to his house.

He had sustained 3 serious shots on his right arm, one shot on the right rib, one shot under the right chest and another shot right on the heart. Police could not find the trace of suspects or evidence of gun casings at the incident.

Niece of the death, Miss U-thumporn Thongcherd (22) told police that while she was sleeping in the house, she heard gunshots and screaming noise. She promptly got up and found her uncle was shot dead outside the house gate. She saw two suspects, sped away on a motorbike which she could not identify the color or license No. She suddenly called Mrs. Phongphan Nilkum (49), her uncle’s wife who was sleeping in the other room and notified to the police.

Mrs. Phongphan told police in tears that, her husband was a working man and never had enemy. He had left the home in the evening and she had no idea where he went, until her niece had woken her up that her husband was shot dead. She did not have a clue of the motive that her husband was killed. He had never told her that he had enemy or problem with anyone.

Police said, the motive was unclear. Presumably, It could be from working dispute or adulterous matter, but likely to be a working dispute because Mr. Sanit was a Civil Engineer level 7, and he could have a conflict of interest with Pattaya Mafia. However, police would rush to investigate those who were in close relationship and his wife, including his colleagues to ease up the case and arrest the suspects.

Mrs. Phongphan Nilkum, wife of the death, said that, at around 21.00, on September 20th, her husband took her and the children and the niece to Amata Pattaya, and said that he could be late coming back home as he had to go to dinner with his colleagues from Water Supply Office to discuss about the work. She did not ask whom he went with, where to and how many people. Her husband also told her to get back home by herself.

Pol.Col.Suthee Boonkrong, Sattahip superintendent, said that, Mr. Sanit had a good working record. He was a good man and kind. He had never had a conflict with his colleagues or coordinators as he had always worked in a compromising way. He was a loving person among his working environment.

However Pol.Col.Suthee said “We don’t know if he had run any other outside business with anybody”

“The evidence should be clarified before pointing out that it was a dispute in outside business, adulterous matter is another thing that should not be disregarded”

Pol.Col.Suthee also said, another aspect could be from his job about construction permission which might cause a dispute with Pattaya businessman.

Pattaya police will be cooperated to find out the information in order to bring the suspects to justice soon.
