The Ebola virus disease at present has been spreading in West Africa, including Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria (Lacoste city). It is a very severe virus of the Filoviridae family that consists of 5 species as follows: Ivory Coast, Sudan, Zaire, Reston and Bundibugyo. The Sudan specie and Bundibugyo specie have caused the spreading of Ebola virus disease in Africa which has led to 25-90% approximately of people who contracted the disease to die from it. But the Ivory Coast specie and Reston specie do not cause severe symptoms and there have not been any deaths reported from these 2 species.

Mr. Itthiphon said that Pattaya city, Thailand would like to inform tourists not to worry about the Ebola virus disease because it has only been found in Africa and there have been no reports of it in Thailand yet. Therefore the Public Health Office of Pattaya city has arranged for a team of doctors to monitor for the disease and to take care of people thoroughly. If anyone finds that they have any unusual health symptoms they art are to call the 24hr hotline no. 1669 or 1337.
