Pattaya Businessmen Plan For Tourism Revival

Besides more CCTVs on Walking Street, Pattaya should pave more roads and clean up the city to attract more tourists, said participants at a meeting of the Pattaya Businessmen and Tourism Association. They expect Pattaya tourism to increase from 5 to10 million visitors within 10 years.

PATTAYA – October 10, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 2 p.m., the monthly board meeting of the Pattaya Businessmen and Tourism Association was held at the Green Park Resort Hotel. PBTA president Mr. Wiwat Pattanasin welcomed members and representatives of agencies from government and private organizations, who participated in vigorous discussions.

Their first topic was about Pattaya tourism in Walking Street, which always has plenty of visiting tourists visiting from around the world. The recent designation of Walking Street as a “Safety Zone” will help ease security concerns by tourists and follow the government’s policy to increase income from tourism.

Creating the Safety Zone incudes the installation of high- quality CCTVs along Walking Street to prevent crimes on the street and in the business and entertainment spots. Meeting participants endorsed adding more CCTV in some areas. Moreover, the PBTA has co-operated with the headquarters of Maung Pattaya police station to work with tourism police, immigration police, and local government offices, including volunteers, to help police more.

Other topics discussed at the meeting included the increasing number of Chinese businessmen coming to visit Pattaya, and improving the transit routes used by tourists to get to Pattaya.

Events of the past year have greatly affected tourism, so meeting participants discussed activities to restore tourism in Pattaya, by asking for co-operation from Pattaya businessmen, as well as the tourism sector and other organizations to help Pattaya attract visitors to help restore the robust tourism growth in Pattaya vigorously like in the past years.

The goal is pushing Pattaya to become known as an ideal destination resort at an international level, and encourage repeat visitors to the bustling city. It is hoped that Pattaya can continue to be as colorful as ever in enhancing its reputation worldwide.

However, this is only one part of the city development. There will be many more projects to promote Pattaya to be one of the most famous tourist attractions in Thailand for its variety of attractions for visitors.

In keeping with this concept, meeting participants agreed on four areas of immediate priority that should be addressed. The four priorities are: paving over any dirt roads, as well as continual repaving and maintenance of existing roads; keeping the environment clean, which includes proper sanitation and trash elimination; carrying out the government’s policy of 15 years of free education; and effective management of water resources to address both the water supply and the problems of flooding.

These policies would be applied in many tourism areas, such as Pattaya beach, Pattaya hill (Khao Phra Bat), Na Jomthian beach, Duang Phrajan beach, Wat Sawangfa Pruettharam, Koh Larn island, Krok-Sak islands, the Honor Celebration Garden, and Mini Siam.

However, the long-range master plan for Pattaya is expected to be completed in 10 years, when the tourism count is expected to roughly double from 5 to 10 million visitors annually.
