Official Aims To Expand Using Electronic Monitoring On Wrongdoers

Department of probation aimed to expand the probation by forcing the wrongdoers into wearing electronic monitoring.

THAILAND – January 26,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 10.00 am at the center of probation, Mr.Wallop Nakbua-deputy director of office of justice affair- was accompanied with Mr.Prasarn Mahaleetrakul-deputy chief of department of probation- had revealed the result of performing Electronic Monitoring probation instead of jailing people in prison. They revealed that they aimed to lease more 3,000 electronic anklets before they had leased 200 of them previously. They had used on 1 December 2014 in 23 provinces.

 

Latest, they had probated 57 wrongdoers by the electronic anklet and most of them were on charge of traffic rule infingements for 31 persons, 4 invaders, 3 for drug charge, 3 for driving with recklessness, 2 for robbery and etc. Also, no one aimed to break or escape from electronic anklet and they aimed to expand this kind of probation overall country.

 

Mr.Wallop said that this kind of probation controlled the wrongdoers to follow the conditions that the court had ordered, for example the drivers who drink drive are restricted to not pass some areas. However, this item couldn’t change their behavior. In addition, they aimed that the wrongdoers to serve public affairs on what they were experts in.

 

Mr.Prasarn revealed that the officers had followed the behavior of wrongdoers who were on charge of drink driving from 2010-2013 and they found out that there were less wrongdoers because these wrongdoers had served for public affairs and they were scared of the law.
