On 12 December 2007, at 08.00PM, Pol.Sub.Lt. Pitichon Terdkietkorakul, Sattahip investigator, Chonburi, was notified by Mr. Aswin Wongman (57), that a woman was robbed. The crime scene was about 50 meters into Soi Sattahip-Sukhumvit 63, (Soi Weekend), Moo 7, Sattahip. The suspect had sped away on a motorbike, heading to the traffic light at 1st kilometer junction.
Pol.Sub.Lt. Komwut Damrangphokaphan, chief of vehicle inspector, with Pol.Sgt. Winit Phugnern, rushed to the incident and found a woman was crying and being frightened. She was Miss Nathakarn Sornthong, (25), a nurse from Smithvej hospital, Bangkok. She was from Bhosadet district, Nakhonsithamarat province.

Miss Nathakarn said that she was going to see her male friend in Sattahip. She had gotten off a Bangkok-Sattahip bus and walked into Soi Weekend. About fifty meters into the Soi which was dark and isolated, there was a guy on a motorbike, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a full covered red helmet came to cut in front of her. It was a blue Honda Wave 100 with no license plate.

She stopped and did not dare to walk further. The guy got off the motorbike and suddenly came close to her and used a knife to point on her neck. He snatched her handbag with the contents of 5,000 baht cash, a Nokia mobile phone 6250 and two credit cards, including other documents. She was also threatened to hand over everything to the thief. After she had composed herself, she started screaming for help. The thief saw that there was somebody coming to help, he suddenly, got on the motorbike and sped away, heading to traffic light junction, at 1st kilometer.

Mr. Aswin Wongman, a bystander who attempted to help Miss Nathakarn, said that, he saw the thief was riding the motorbike about the Soi. He was suspicious and peeking at what was going on. Until Miss Nathakarn had arrived, walking into the Soi, the thief immediately followed her. Later he heard a screaming then rushed to help but it was too late.

Police officers had attempted to search for the criminal but could not find him. Assumingly, the thief must have lived in the area and have known the way around to escape easily. It looks like the crime was well planned to look for a victim in an isolated Soi, and the nurse had come along to be the victim.
