The 14 were however told that as a precaution, they would be kept under observation for seven days.

Upon their arrival at the Suvarabhumi Airport, the seven scholarship students and seven teachers were checked by health officials, after which Minister of Public Health Witthaya Kaewparadai told reporters that the initial tests revealed no symptoms of swine flu.

He added that the 14 would be sent to Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Hospital for further checks, the results of which would be known within 24 hours. If no symptoms or traces of the virus are found, they will be allowed to go home, he said.

The Ministry of Public Health will then follow up on their condition for seven days to make sure that they remain clear of the killer virus.

Department of Disease Control director-general Dr. Somchai Chakrabhand who facilitated the 14 Thais checking in at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Hospital, said even though the initial report on all 14 show negative results, they would stay at the hospital for one day.

Dr. Chakrabhand said one student was found to be suffering from a mild fever, possibly as a result of the long journey, but he said health officials would wait for the result of the blood tests before drawing any conclusion. (TNA)
