Nigerians Con Thai Women

A group of women have reported to the police that they have been conned out of millions of baht by Nigerian men who befriended them on Facebook.

Bangkok – October 28th 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; Mrs. Pornnaphat Chartphueak (an administrator of Thai Anti Scam Page took a group of victims to the inquiry official of the Crime Suppression Division after they had fallen been befriended by foreigners via social a media site. The scam was for amount raging from 60,000 THB – 23 million THB. The total money swindled was around 29 million THB.

 

Mrs. Pornnaphat revealed that there were over 20 victims that they had been deceived by foreign men who were mainly men form Nigerian but claimed that they were British and used photographs of good looking men to befriend them. If any of the victims had financial problems the foreign swindlers would tell them that they will transfer money to their accounts or they would send them valuable gifts but they would have to pay for delivery. Some victims were tricked into investing large amounts of money into trading gold etc.

 

One female victim said that a swindler claimed that he was British and worked at for an oil company. He had chatted to her for over 2 weeks before sending some valuable things to her such as mobile phone, gold and cash but when it was delivered a Thai woman claimed that 90,000 THB needed to be paid for imports taxes etc which happened several times.

 

The police had recorded all the victims’ evidence in order to arrest the swindle ring so they can be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
