PATTAYA – March 30, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 6 a.m., a report of a fire at a Pratumnak Hill condo building was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Songkhram Pun-eam, investigation officer, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province. Four fire trucks rushed to the scene as well as the officers of relief public disaster, Pattaya; and rescue officers of Sawangboribul Pattaya foundation along with police.

The fire was burning at the Royal Cliff Garden condominium on Soi Royal Cliff Beach Resort hotel, Pratumnak hill, Moo 12, south Pattaya. Smoke was pouring from a 21st floor unit near the top of the 22-story luxury condominium.
The officers inspected the room number 377/135, the origin of the fire, and saw flames burning the property and appliances in the room. Firefighters sprayed water to stop the fire from outside the building and took approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

After the fire was extinguished, officers inspected the burned condo and found that all appliances were damaged. It appeared that the origin of the fire came from the kitchen. Total damages were estimated at more than 1 million THB.

The condo owner was a foreigner named Mr. Oven John, age 46, nationality New Zealander. He had been sleeping in the room with his 2 sons, and woke up when he smelled smoke. He discovered the burning fire in the condo, so he hurried to bring his 2 sons out of the room and notified the security guard.

Officers still did not determine the exact cause of the fire, and will wait for the forensic police to inspect the unit to determine the real cause.
