NCPO Crack Down and Arrest Loan Shark in Pattaya

The police and -navy raided a house which was owned by an 18 year old loan shark after they received complaints from local people. The 18 year old said he could earn 200,000 THB a month from loaning money.

PATTAYA – July 4, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 8.30 p.m., Captain Khomphan Ouppalanon (Director of Joint Operations and Intelligence) together with SubLt. Thanawat Prengkrathok (Head of Operation Team of Peace Keeping, Sattahip Naval Base), Pol.Maj. Natthakarn Prathumtri (Inspector of Nong Prue police station, Chonburi province) mobilized forces of over 10 sailors to use the martial law to attack and search a house no. 38/157, Suan Suwatthana Pattaya, Moo 5 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province, after the officers had received complaints from local people that there was a loan shark operating from there.

 

From inspecting the house which owned by 18 year old Mr. Jutharin Pulklin, the police found 4 big account books which contained the names of loan customers, over 10 bank books of Kasikorn bank, over 1,000 name cards ranging from 5,000 THB – 500,000 THB under the name of “Mang Mee Business Fund”, 2 mobile phones, over 10 helmets and 1 motorbike, so the officers seized all of them for evidence.

 

Upon initial investigation Mr. Jutharin confessed that most of his loan customers were groups of vendors, general workers and employees and he would charge 20% interest . He said that he could earn over 200,000 THB per month by loaning out money and he had 3-4 people who would collect the money for him which he had been doing for around 1 year.

 

Captain Khomphan revealed that the policy of The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and the announcement of NCPO; issue no. 46/2557 was to crack down and arrest loan sharks all over the country. Initially, the officers had detained and sent Mr. Jutharin and sent him to the inquiry official to be prosecuted according to the Thai law and he will be investigated further to magnify the outcomes in order to find the other offenders who are involved with him.
