Upon questioning monk Jakkaphan he said that he had collected donations because the abbot of La Wa temple in Nakhon Nayok Province was preparing for a Buddhist observance (ceremony / rite) in offering robes to Buddhist priests at the monastery and the money was to construct a new central sanctuary in the temple. Also he didn’t have a monk’s identification card and didn’t have a letter from the clergy that allowed him to collect donations. The police then invited Phra Khru Piyakijwiboon or Instructor Kaew who is the rector of Tambon Na Jomtien ( monk who is in charge of monks’ disciplines) to inquire about monk Jakkaphan to which they found out that the was breaking the code of monastic disciplines by seeking benefits for himself.
