PATTAYA – March 23, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2:30 a.m., a report of a minimart owner being beaten by 6 men and 1 woman was received by Pol. Capt. Suwan Cheawnawinthawat, Superintendent, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province, together with other police officers and volunteer police who had set up a police checkpoint to protect against crime during the Pattaya Music Festival.

The incident occurred at a minimart on Soi Post Office near second Pattaya road. After beating and injuring the store owner, the suspects also stole her handbag containing 7,000 THB cash, a mobile phone and some documents.

The suspects then escaped in a golden bronze Isuzu pickup truck, driving on second Pattaya road in the central Pattaya area. Police had been notified and were watching for the pickup truck along the escape route.

A police team and volunteer police then spotted the troublemakers’ pickup truck at a red light intersection in central Pattaya. So the officers pursued the pickup truck. The driver tried to drive escape, until his pickup truck collided with two parked cars that got damaged.

The suspects were arrested at the intersection of second Pattaya road and Klang Pattaya road. The officers arrested 6 male suspects. But the lone female with them escaped with the victim’s handbag. Police searched the pickup truck and found a long knife, which they kept for evidence. Officers then restrained the suspects to investigate at Pattaya police station.

During questioning, the pickup truck’s driver, Mr. Kreangkrai Chanaphol, age 29, confessed to beating and robbing the mini-mart owner, along with his girlfriend, identified as Ms. Soisurin Chanaphol, age 28; and Mr. Anurak Phulsombat, age 20; and 4 other friends.

The beaten victim was identified as Mrs. Sodsai Khajornvanichchot, age 50, the owner of minimart in soi Post Office. Mr. Kreangkrai said the reason they beat the victim was because Mrs. Sodsai had fired Ms. Soisurin, who had been employed at the minimart.

So he got revenge on the minimart owner, and brought his friends to beat her. They also stole the victim’s handbag, which his girlfriend Ms. Soisurin took with her while escaping from police after the pickup truck crashed.

After their initial investigation, the police made notes for evidence and charged the suspects in an accusation of together robbing other people’s property and beating another person until she got injured.

Police sent them to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law. As for Ms. Soisurin, who caused the trouble and escaped with the victim’s handbag, police will follow up to arrest her and prosecute according to the law.
