Minibus Cooperatives Discus Taxi Problems In Pattaya

Pattaya officials and minibus operators had discussed problems about people modifying their cars and using them as taxis which is taking business from the legal taxis.

PATTAYA – November 13,2014 [Pattaya Daily News] Col.Popanan Luengpanuwat-deputy commander of military circle 14th- had chaired the opening ceremony of the 10th conference about controlling minibuses in Pattaya. Mr.Ronnakit Aekasing-deputy mayor of Pattaya-, Mr.Sakchai Tang-Ho-chief district of Bang Lamung- and those involved attended the conference at Pattaya City Hall.


At the conference, the representatives from the Baht bus drivers complained about illegal taxis and private cars that operated without permission. The minibus operators claimed that they were exploited and the wrongdoers modified their cars and parked them in front of hotels, department stores.


The police officers suggested that the operators should inform the police when they see people doing wrong but the police will only be able to charge them with using their car in an inappropriate way.


Meanwhile the representatives from Chonburi department of land and transport said that the punishment of modifying private cars and serving the tourist was hard and the wrongdoers will be jailed for 5 years.


However the minibus driver had to strictly obey the law because some minibus drivers caused may traffic problems such as not picking up passengers at the minibus stops.
