MERS Patient Found in Thailand

Pattaya officials have put in place measures to cope with the MERS disease after a patient was found in Thailand.

PATTAYA – June 19,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; at Pattaya City Hall Dr.Liebmuang Pudong-director of Bangkok-Pattaya hospital- was accompanied with Pol.Capt.Kanrapha Mukdasanit-direcotr of deceased control of Pattaya public health-, Mr.Rattanachai Suttidechanai, Mr.Itthiwat Wattanasartsathorn-deputy spokesman of Pattaya- and officers made a statement about the MERS situation.


Dr Liebmuang revealed that the department of public health had announced that MERS is a severe decease. A 75 year old patient from Thailand had suffered from the disease and also a 59 year old man from the middle east. However, the officials had a team to inspect and care for the patients who contract the disease. . The incubation period of the disease is around 14 days and anyone showing symptoms of the disease should contact the doctor immediately.


MERS is a kind of influenza and around 60-70 % of people who contract the disease die from it. People should avoid contact with people who have the disease and if they do come in contact with someone they should contact the doctor immediately.


Mr.Rattanachai revealed that Pattaya officials had put countermeasures in place to cope with the disease due to the amount of people who visit Pattaya.


However, Pattaya officials will discuss the situation with hoteliers and businesses on how to spot people who may be suffering from the disease and what they should do next.
