Man Killed By Drunk Driver In Pattaya

A man was killed instantly by a woman who was driving her car whilst drunk. After hitting the man she fled the scene but was arrested by police.

PATTAYA – December 9,2014 [Pattaya Daily News] at 02.00 am Pol.LT.Col.Weerawut Meelai-inspector of Pattaya police station- was notified that a car had hit someone and killed them before fleeing the scene. After notification the police officers rushed to inspect the scene.


At the scene the officers found the body of Mr.Pariwat Khemrit aged 43 which had been fatally injured from a car impacted. Plus the officials found bits of car glass at the scene.


Later the police officers arrested the car driver on 2nd Pattaya road. The car had been damaged from the accident and from inspecting the car there were 4 people inside and Ms Issara Thongprasart aged 27 was the driver.

Upon questioning Mr.Nakorn Pookpun aged 39 who was a friend of the deceased he said that they had been drinking on Pattaya beach and they had parked their car at the scene. Later they walked across the road and his friend walked behind them and then he heard a loud noise so he turned around to find the victim had been hit by a car which then quickly fled the scene.


Initially Ms.Issara claimed that she and her friends were in a rush to get to Walking Street when the deceased walked cross the road in front of her and she couldn’t stop in time before hitting him. However the police officers performed a breath test on her to which she failed. Therefore the police officers prosecuted her according to Thai law.
