PATTAYA – May 16, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 4.30 a.m. the police of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province, went to inspect the incident where a teenager had be caught shop lifting in a 7-Eleven on central Pattaya road, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

At the incident the police found 4 male teenagers, aged approximately 15-19 who had been detained by the 7-Eleven staff. Upon questioning the staff, they told the police that before incident occurred the 4 male teenagers came into the shop and bought instant noodles and rice porridge (the cup type) but while they were walking out of the shop a bystander saw 1 of them hide something down his trousers so he informed the staff who then detained them. The staff then asked to search them and if anyone was caught stealing they will call the police. At first, the 4 teenagers yelled loudly and denied that they had stolen anything but after they were pressured by the staff 1 of them admitted that he had stolen 1 bottle of sunscreen (KA UV SPF50++ brand), price 129 THB, which he had hidden down his crotch. His friends then shouted at him. They then asked if they could return it but the staff said they need to pay for it but didn’t have enough money so they tried to flee the shop but the staff and bystanders detained them and called the police.

Upon questioning the thief a Mr First (alias), aged 17, the student of Matthayomsuksa 5 of one secondary school in Pattaya he confessed to the theft because he didn’t have enough money to buy it and he also claimed that it was the first time he had ever shop lifted. The 3 friends of the trouble maker had tried to plead with the staff that they would like to pay for the stolen item because they hadn’t conspired with their thievish friend (the trouble maker) to steal the goods and he was still studying so and didn’t want it to tarnish his future.

However, the 7-Eleven shop owner took photographs of the 4 teenagers in order to record it as a theft in their shop and the police detained all 4 of them and took them to the police station to drug test them and check their criminal history before calling their parents to come and collect them to take them back home.
