Machine Crushes Workers Leg Killing Him

A factory worker makes a fatal step on a sawdust mixing machine which crushed his leg causing a pile of sawdust to fall down on top of him burying him alive killing him instantly.

RATCHABURI – December 11, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 8.00 a.m. Pol. Lt. Ratthaninkasem Sitchaikul (Investigation officer of Baan Pong police station, Ratchaburi province) was notified that there had been an incident where a worker fell down in to a machine and died in factory called Thai Aree Intertext Co., Ltd. address 31/4 Phai Sarm Koh – Nong Kai Khan road, Moo 9 Tambon Khao Khloong, Amphur Baan Pong so he rushed to inspect at scene together with Pol. Col. Itthiphol Chalayondecha (Superintendent) and the officers of Ruamjai Charity Foundation, Ratchaburi.

At the incident there was a sawdust shed that is used for fuel for a steam furnace to dry and dye fabric. The officers found that the workers were digging at a big pile of sawdust that collapsed on top of the body of the deceased who was identified as Mr. Samran Meeyai, aged 46, address 3/4 Moo 9 Tambon Khao Khloong, he had lacerated left leg as it had been squashed by the sawdust conveying machine and his left knee had been trapped in the machine.

From the investigating, the police perceived that Mr. Samran (the deceased) had been working at the factory for 10 years and today he had been working the night shift since midnight. His job was to put the sawdust into the conveying machine to be burnt in the kiln but he noticed that there were foreign objections on the conveyor so Mr. Samran climbed up on to the pile of sawdust which was almost 3 meters high in order to use an iron bar to prod the sawdust but he made a wrong step and fell down onto the machine trapping and crushing his leg he struggled to survive but suddenly a pile of sawdust collapsed on top of him totally covering him causing him to die instantly.
