Jomtien One-way System Postponed

Deputy mayor of Pattaya revealed that they have suspended the proposed one-way system in Jomtien until the new year so it doesn’t affect tourism during high season.

PATTAYA – November 12,2014 [Pattaya Daily News] according to the project that Pattaya officials had announced they were to turn Jontien beach road into a one way system. Later deputy mayor of Pattaya revealed that they had suspended the project until January 2015.

At Jomtien beach road PattayaDailyNews reporters had inspected the road and they found that road was still in a poor condition and some motorcyclists had doubled parking causing congestion. Later the reporters went to Pattaya City Hall in order to meet Mr.Ronnakit Aekasing-deputy mayor of Pattaya- and ask why the one way system had been started.

 

The deputy mayor revealed that they had suspended the project because it might affect tourism in high season. Plus the official aimed to construct underground road and they needed to renovate traffic system. As a result of this the official had to suspend the project.

In addition the number of police officers was insufficient to control the new system. In addition the waste water system construction in Soi Chaiyapruek road was another reason why they had to suspend the one way system because of traffic congestion.
