Jet Ski Operators Crack Down

Pattaya officials have cracked down on Jet Ski operators after they had continuously received complaints from tourists who had been scammed by them.

PATTAYA – September 11,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; Pol.Maj.Gen.Akkaradet Pimolsi- commander- and police officers inspected the area in front of Royal Garden Plaza in South Pattaya in order to inspect Jet Ski operators according to the order from the prime minister.

The order was given because officials had been complained to many times by hundreds of tourists that the jet ski operators were ripping them off and it had been going on for years. Lots of tourists had complained to their embassy about the on-going scam. In addition, the jet ski operators had threatened the tourist and even assaulted them which has damaged the image of Pattaya. The officers had summoned 30 jet ski operators to register in order to keep their record on file for evidence so that if any tourist has any problems the police and officials have the operators information.

Pol.Maj.Gen.Akkaradet said that the officials had received constant complaints from tourists about the jet ski operators behaviour for many years on how they were scamming them for damaged to the jet ski which they hadn’t done. Some tourists were told to pay 100,000 baht and more for damage they hadn’t done and if they didn’t pay they were threatened and assaulted. As a result, the officials needed to control them by recording their information for evidence.
