Pattaya, 24 October 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximatedly 10:30 pm Pattaya Police Superintendent, Colonel Nanthawut Suwanla-ong, was notified that a Thai woman had been found dead in room 401 on the 4th floor of the Pattaya Hill Hotel, located in Soi Phratamnuk2, Moo10, Nongprue, Banglamung. A police team under the supervision of the Pattaya Deputy Superintendent, together with the Sawang Borriboon rescue service, were despatched to the location.

On arrival at the scene they discovered the body of a Thai woman, Miss Saifon Kamonrueng [21] from Kalasin, lying dead on the floor. She was wearing a grey vest and short jeans and police estimate she had been dead for about one hour. She had a bruise on her neck, but no other signs of injury. There was no indication of any struggle in the room.

Also, lying unconscious in the hotel lobby, was an Iranian man, Mr. Saeed Dehghan [30], who was identified as the boyfriend of the deceased.

A Pattaya municipal officer told police that while he was on duty in Pattaya’s Walking Street, Mr.Dehghan had approached him and asked him to take him back to his hotel. On arrival at the hotel, Mr. Dehghan fainted and the officer then asked the hotel staff for the number of his room. He then carried the Iranian to his room, where he discovered the dead body of Miss Kamonrueng. The officer then rendered first aid to Mr. Dehghan before restraining him for further investigation.

Under questioning, hotel staff told Police Colonel Suwanla-ong that Mr. Dehghan had had a heated argument with Miss Kamonrueng after which he left the hotel. A short period later he returned, accompanied by the municipal officer. When he arrived at the hotel, the Iranian fainted.

Based on the bruising to the neck of the deceased, police suspect that Mr. Dehghan was responsible for Miss Saifon’s death, and he was taken into custody for further questioning, once he had regained consciousness.
