Pattaya, 18 November, 2010, [Pattaya Daily News] :The Indian tourist, travelling with a 40-strong tour group from Bangkok, had gone with the party for the day to Koh Sak to enjoy the undersea Scene Walker Adventure, run by the Sea Dream Company. After looking at the undersea view for about 10-15 minutes, the man, Mr. Colaco Viacent [63, clutched his chest as if experiencing breathing difficulties and then collapsed while attempting to exit from the adventure, according to a Sea Dream staff member. The staff member attempted to render assistance and arrange for him to be taken to hospital, but it was apparent that the man was dead. He accordingly told his superiors who in turn notified police at 4pm.

A police team, led by Pol.Lt.Col. Phumphat Namphuttha, and supported by Sawang Boriboon paramedic, set off from the mainland for the island immediately by speedboat. Arriving at where the tourists’ boat was moored, they found Mr. Viacent’s dead body lying on the roof of the boat. After a brief medical check to ascertain that the man was indeed dead, the rescue service transferred him to their boat and took him back to the mainland for an autopsy.

Mr. Samai Wongchop [46], the tour guide, told police that Mr.Viacent had been a a member of a tour group from Bangkok staying at Erawan Hotel, Pattaya. While enjoying the undersea Scene Walker Adventure, Mr.Viacent had apparently suffered breathing difficulties which Mr. Samai attributed to the high air pressure. Mr.Viacent was subsequently found to be dead by a concerned staff member who had gone to help him. Mr. Samai said he assumed the tourist had succumbed to a heart attack.

Mr. Viacent’s body was sent to the Forensic Institute for autopsy to discover the actual cause of death. The police spokesman told press that it was possible that the dead man could have suffered up to two heart attacks, the last being fatal, but that was supposition until the autopsy results are known.
