Highway Police Commander Presents Gifts To OfficersThe highway police commander presented his officers and volunteers with gifts for their help in ensuring the safety of Pattaya’s roads during the holiday period.
Pattaya, 1st January 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: On Saturday Police Major General Naraboon Naena, the highway patrol commander, made his way to the Highway Police station to offer gifts to all the police officers and volunteers who have been ensuring the safety of Pattaya’s roads and highways during the festive season. Gifts included consumer goods such as coffee, water, instant noodles, etc.
Afterwards, Mr. Naraboon made his way to the Nongbrue airport, to take a 30 minute flight with a 2-seater aircraft and checked the traffic control in Pattaya from the air. Focus points were on Sukhumvit Road, the main roads in Pattaya and Highway 7.
After the flight Mr. Naraboon concluded that traffic was flowing satisfactorily on Sukhumvit and Highway 7, which both handle the main traffic to and from Bangkok. However, on the main roads in Pattaya City, such as Sai 2 and 3 and the Beach Road, traffic was a little congested. He said the congestion was not too bad and could easily be fixed.
People who are headed back to Bangkok, were recommended to use highway no.7, as following intensive police controls throughout the holiday, this was found to be the safest route, with no deaths or serious injuries since the controls started on 29th December.
Also he asked for the cooperation of all citizens and travellers who are taking to the roads in driving carefully and respecting the traffic laws. If tired, stop the car and rest. If drunk, don’t drive.
Altogether, the highway police patrol has 227 stations all over the country. If you are tired you are welcome to park and rest at one of those stations, and refresh with water or a cup of coffee, around the clock.
