PATTAYA – August 9, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 2:30 p.m., Pol. Lt. Col. Thanadech Duangtapiyachai, investigation officer, Banglamung police station, Nong Preu sub branch, Chonburi province, was notified that a foreigner had stabbed himself.

The self-inflicted stabbing occurred in a house at 52/107 Chokchai 4 village, Soi Nern Plub Wan, Moo 5 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung. He rushed to the scene with a police team and the rescue officer of the Sawangboribulthammasathan Pattaya foundation.

They discovered the victim, Mr. Manfred Bernd Chudasch, 70, from Germany, was sitting with the knife stabbed at his left breast with a lot of bleeding. The rescue officer performed first aid before sending him to Bangkok Pattaya hospital.

In his house police found bloodstains in the restroom and the bedroom. The knife that Mr. Manfred used to stab himself was lying on the top of the bed. It had a blade length of approximately 20 cm.

In front of the restroom, an electric line was looped in a circle, as if Mr. Manfred was going to kill himself in a similar fashion like his son, Timo Chudasch, 44, who had hanged himself on July 4 in the bedroom. Mr. Timo had become depressed after suffering from cancer for three years. They had been living in Pattaya for about a year.

Police also found a letter written by Mr. Manfred that was lying by the electric cord. The letter said, “I don’t want to live in this world because I am so sad that my son hung himself to die.” Police kept the letter for evidence.

Police questioned the house maid, Mrs. Ramphan Jaengwong, 43, who first discovered Mr. Manfred. She told police that before incident occurred she came to work at Mr. Manfred’s house as usual. But when she opened the door of the house, she found that Mr. Manfred had used the knife to stab himself and was bleeding heavily, so she notified the police.
