Sattahip, 3 May 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 11.00 a.m., Police Lieutenant Colonel Sompol Nakkumpan (The Investigator Officer of Na Jomtien, Sattahip) was informed of a horrific accident occurring opposite to Silver Lake Vineyard in Na Jomtien, Sattahip. The police and the rescue team hurried to the scene.

A blue ten-wheeled ice-delivery truck had collided into the rear of another white ten-wheeled truck, which was spraying water to dampen the road dust, the police reported.

In the blue truck, the bodies of Prajong Tiengte p, 59, and his 14-year-old grandchild, Issara Aunsap were found in the driver and passenger seats respectively.

Both were believed to have died instantly as their lower bodies were crushed in their seats while they suffered head blows into the wind screen, an officer commented.

On the other hand, the driver of the water-spraying truck was missing. The truck was recognised as belonging to The Thaworn Wissawa Yotha Limited Partnership.

Five large NGV gas tank of the white truck was still leaking but the police turned it off in time, an officer said.
The police speculated that speed was the cause of the accident.

The ice-delivery truck was driving too fast downhill and therefore could not break in time at the sight of the water-spraying truck that was travelling very slowly, the police believed.

The police did not comment on the search for the water-truck driver or the pursuit of further investigation.
