The crime occurred in the middle of Soi 7 Thepprasit, Moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamung where the two men took off with 8,500 Euros.

Police and officials arriving at the scene, found a German National Mr. Michael Maslankowski, [43] waiting for them. Mr. Maslankowski told them that he had returned to his Honda Wave 100 motorbike, licensed in Bangkok after his visit to the bank. He was carrying a bag of money belonging to a friend from Denmark, of 8,500 Euro which he was asked to exchange into Baht.

The money was placed in the storage compartment under the seat, before driving to the scene of the crime which was an isolated area where he was confronted by the two men who were both wearing black jackets and riding a red Honda Click, (license unknown).

Posing as police, they stopped Mr. Maslankowski on the pretence, of checking his vehicle. After recovering from the shock, he phoned his Thai girlfriend and his friend Orlam, for whom he was changing the money, to come to the scene with the police.

Mr. Maslankowski was taken by the police to look at police volunteer profiles and criminal history records at the Pattaya Police Station. However, Mr. Maslankowski was unable to identify the two men from the files.
