Pattaya, 18th February 2011[Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 02.30 am Lt. Col. Weerawut Meelai, a Pattaya Police Investigator, led a team to investigate the death of a foreign man at 430/60, Soi Arunothai3, Central Pattaya, Moo9, Nongphrue, Banglamung. The body was discoveredny by the deceased man’s wife, Miss Ratsamee Wannawong (40) from Sisaket, crying tearfully in front of her home with neighbours consoling her. Miss Wannawong led the officers to investigate inside the house to see the deceased, Mr. Loeb Gunter (70), a German national. His was lying face up on the bed, wearing blue shorts with some clothes left nearby, with the TV switched on. The body of deceased man showed no signs of a struggle and it was estimated that he had been dead for 3-5 hours.

Miss Wannawong stated that she had been living with Mr. Gunter for months. Usually Mr. Gunter stayed at home alone while she went to work at a Thai massage parlor in Naklua everyday. She added that her husband was in good health. He was contented and went out to drink with neighbours regularly. In the evening Mr. Gunter would drive a motorbike to pick her from work to bring her home. That evening, Miss Wannawong wondered why her husband did not go to meet her from work and had not accepted phone calls from her since 3 pm. Subsequently she came home to find his corpse.
