PATTAYA – March 27, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 3:30 p.m., a report of a foreigner falling from a building and being severely injured was received by Pol. Capt. Chaleaw Boonkhum, investigation officer, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province.

The incident occurred at the Central Festival Pattaya Beach department store, about 30 meters from Pattaya police station on Pattaya Beach Road. The rescue officers of Sawangboribultharmmasatharn Pattaya foundation went to the scene, along with police and a doctor from Pattaya Memorial hospital who brought an ambulance.

The victim was lying unconscious on the ground beside the department store with a broken skull. There was the big open wound in his right leg that was bleeding heavily. A crowd of Thai and foreign tourists were standing around watching the aftermath.

The victim was later identified as Mr. Christian Klasky, age 34, nationality German. Officers hurried to send him to Pattaya Memorial hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Police questioned Mr. Prasong Boonsiri, age 28, the security guard of the department store. He said that before the incident occurred, he was working on his duty beside the department store, when he heard a loud noise as if a heavy object had hit the ground. At first he thought that there was a collision of cars.

But when he turned to check, he saw the body of Mr. Christian, which was lying on a pool of blood on the ground, so he notified the police. Mr. Prasong asked his colleagues about the incident, and they said Mr. Christian had climbed the handrail of the balcony on the 5th floor, and then jumped to the ground for unknown reasons.

The police searched the victim’s body, but didn’t find any property or personal documents. However, police later learned his identity when they discovered that on March 23, the German had notified the Pattaya police station that his passport was lost.

Police assumed his lost passport may have been a contributing factor in the circumstances leading to his suicide. However, the police will wait for his relatives and friends to be contacted to further investigate the reasons causing his death.
